Volunteers from Audit Commission and members of Hong Kong PHAB
celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival with mooncake making

On 23 September (Saturday) this year, members of the Audit Commission (Audit) and the Hong Kong PHAB Association joined hands to make mooncakes in celebration of the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.  Packed with fun and flavour, the activity saw the close cooperation and communication between the PH – physically handicapped – and the AB – able-bodied participants, who worked together in making the festive delicacy.  They all enjoyed a fulfilling and happy time.

In addition to making mooncakes, volunteers from Audit also had a wheelchair experience arranged by the organiser.  Offering a glimpse into the difficulties encountered by wheelchair-bound people in daily life and their ways to cope, the experience session gave our members a better understanding of the importance of barrier-free access and how the able-bodied may provide support and help to the disabled in an integrated society.

Mutual understanding, respect and encouragement are fundamental to PHAB integration, and also to a harmonious and accommodating society.  Members of Audit will continue to serve with empathy, care for the community and contribute to the society.

Director of Audit, Prof. Nelson LAM (sixth from left), together with his wife and members of the
Audit Commission volunteered at the mooncake-making workshop organised by the Hong Kong
PHAB Association.

A member of Hong Kong PHAB Association, who was completely new to making mooncakes by
hand, said he had much fun in steps like dough kneading and molding, and that the process was
easier than expected.
