The Director of Audit and Auditors of the Audit Commission
shared their work in public sector auditing

On 1 November 2023, Prof. Nelson Lam, Director of Audit, and three Auditors of the Audit Commission (Audit) were invited to a sharing session jointly organised by the Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors and the Accounting Development Foundation.  The event, conducted physically and online simultaneously, hosted over 700 participants, with whom the Director and the Auditors shared their work at Audit and views on the future development of public sector auditing.

In the sharing session, the Auditors introduced the reports on the accounts of the Government and those on the results of value for money audits, which are regularly published over the year.  They also shared their experience in taking part in the training in Beijing by the National Audit Office of the People's Republic of China (NAO), upon the completion of which they were offered a placement in United Nations audit projects conducted in different countries as part of NAO’s audit team.  Bringing their experience into full play, our Auditors endeavored to showcase to the world our nation’s auditing excellence to tell the good stories of China.  Having gained much practical skills from the field, they would put them in good use back home to tell the good stories of audit.

In line with the Chief Executive’s 2023 Policy Address, titled “A Vibrant Economy for a Caring Community” and delivered in late October, the Director of Audit made a pledge in the sharing session that Audit would seriously study and follow up on the policy directions and measures mentioned in the Policy Address.  Always poised to “make firm strides forward for the benefit of our people”, Audit would work towards its vision to strive for “excellence in public sector auditing” and shoulder the important mission in public governance to support the Government in “Upholding the Principle of ‘One country, Two Systems’ ” and “Striving to Improve Governance”.
