Audit Commission staff member awarded
Secretary for the Civil Service’s Commendation 2023

We have the pleasure to congratulate Ms Sandy KAN, Senior Examiner of the Audit Commission (Audit), on her receipt of the Secretary for the Civil Service (SCS)’s Commendation 2023.  She was among the hundred outstanding members of the civil service who were commended in the award.  On receiving the honour, Ms KAN said that she was filled with joy and heartfelt gratitude for the recognition and recommendation of her performance from Audit.  She would continue to dedicate her effort to serve the society as part of the civil service.

The SCS’s Commendation Award Scheme was introduced in 2004.  Through the scheme, the SCS, on behalf of the Administration, gives recognition to civil servants with a track record of outstanding performance for five or more consecutive years.  The scheme has a meticulous selection process and the final decision on the awardee’s list is made by the SCS.  The SCS, Mrs Ingrid YEUNG, applauded the awardees and said their perseverance in providing quality public services and pursuit of excellence were highly commendable.  According to the SCS, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government would further strengthen the civil service management system and step up training for all civil servants to enhance their patriotism and sense of national security.  In her speech, Mrs YEUNG also appealed to all civil servants to cast their votes in the District Council (DC) Election on 10 December and stressed the civil servants’ role as the backbone of the Government's governing team.

Prof. Nelson LAM, Director of Audit, was at the award presentation ceremony to share the joy with our awarded colleague.  He thanked colleagues for their dedication over the years to achieving Audit’s mission — to strive for excellence in the provision of independent and high-quality public sector audit services.  Holding on to Audit’s vision to serve with affection for the people, the Director hoped that Audit would continue to keep a sharp focus on projects closely relevant to people’s livelihood of all scopes and sizes, so as to help enhance the performance and accountability of the Government and public sector organisations.  Audit would be committed to tell the good stories of the civil service, audit and Hong Kong.

The SCS’s Commendation Award Scheme gives recognition to civil servants with a track
record of outstanding performance for five or more consecutive years. There were a total of a

also attended the award presentation ceremony to extend his congratulations to the awardees.
