Volunteers from Audit Commission doubled as “toy engineers”
to promote the importance of “cherishing and sharing”

On 16 March 2024 (Saturday), ten volunteers, including staff of the Audit Commission (Audit) and their family members, took part in “Toy Reborn Engineer” – a community service event organised by the YMCA of Hong Kong – and put on the hat of “toy engineers” to clean, organise and refurbish recycled old toys, which could then be re-gifted to other children.  The act of giving toys a new life promoted the sharing of happiness, the reduction of waste from disposal, and also the importance of cherishing and sharing.  It could indeed be said that renewing and passing on one toy would bring two folds of joy and three layers of significance.  During the event, staff of the organiser and Audit volunteers had exchanges and experience sharing on issues such as green plastics, recycling and reusing.

Sharing and recycling are important concepts of sustainable development in the modern society.  By reducing consumption and utilising resources, the quality of life of the current and the next generation can be enhanced.  Audit staff will continue to promote a sustainable and green lifestyle, and contribute to fostering the sustainable development of our society and keeping up a balanced standard of living for the future generation.

Audit volunteers took great care in renewing the toys for re-gifting.

Audit volunteers gave their children a lecture on the importance of
sharing and recycling as they tried their hands at refurbishing toys.

The volunteers listened attentively as staff of the YMCA of Hong Kong
shared on issues such as green plastics, recycling and reusing.

Audit volunteers spent a meaningful and joyful morning on Saturday.
