Audit Commission gave support to CPA Sports Carnival in promoting physical and mental well-being through sports

On 17 May 2025 (Saturday), Prof. Nelson Lam, Director of Audit, together with other guests, officiated at the CPA Sports Carnival 2025. Prof. Lam stressed the benefits of sports to the well-being of the body and the mind, and hailed the carnival as a platform for connecting the accounting sector and fostering exchange among accountants from public and private organisations. The Director was delighted that the Audit Commission (Audit) served once again this year as a supporting organisation of the event, which brought members of the sector together to show their care for the industry and tell the good stories of auditing.

Unlike the event last year, in which some of the races had to be postponed due to heavy rain, the carnival this year was blessed with good weather. The sports ground was alive with energy as the athletes rose to the occasion and their supporters cheered aloud. Prof. Lam likened the spirit of athletes to that of professional accountants, who would always overcome challenges and deliver their roles, be it rain or shine, in good times or bad. Our colleagues at Audit too had all along been performing public sector auditing with courage and confidence.

Co-hosted by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Society of Chinese Accountants & Auditors, the CPA Sports Carnival 2025 amassed over a thousand sports enthusiasts from more than 40 professional accounting organisations and their family and friends at the Hammer Hill Road Sports Ground, Diamond Hill where they flexed their athletic skills and bonded over the games, with an aim to – as the theme of the carnival went – “share and win together”. Following her outstanding performance last year, Carol Chan, Senior Examiner of Audit, made a triumphant return to this year’s carnival, bringing home gold in both women’s 1500 m and 400 m running races, silver in shot put, and the individual women’s (D Grade) overall championship. Audit would like to extend its congratulations to her for her remarkable results.
