Audit volunteers joined elderly to mark National Day, Mid-Autumn Festival and National Games

On the morning of 4 October 2025 (Saturday), a team of more than ten volunteers, including Prof. Nelson Lam, Director of Audit, and staff of the Audit Commission (Audit), visited the Ching Chung Rev. Hau Po Woon Neighbourhood Elderly Centre, where they joined its elderly members to celebrate three upcoming occasions – the National Day, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Games.

The elderly were treated to fun-filled programmes, one after another.  They first enjoyed games prepared by Audit volunteers, then singing and dancing performances presented by the students of Ching Chung Wu King Kindergarten and Taoist Ching Chung Primary School (Wu King Estate) respectively.  It was a community-binding event that brought generations together in harmony and warmth.  With festive occasions drawing near, Audit volunteers gave the elderly gift packs to spread joy and blessings.

Prof. Lam said it was a delight to spend a cheerful and activity-packed morning with the seniors.  The occasion was brimming with blessings and positivity, with participants sending their sincere wishes to our Motherland, in honour of the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, for her continued prosperity and strength, and also to each other for their happiness and well-being as greetings of the Mid-Autumn Festival.  During the service, Prof. Lam wished all the seniors good health and reminded them to make time for exercise, and on that note, he called on everyone’s support for the upcoming National Games in November, with Hong Kong being one of the co-hosts of numerous events in the Games, alongside Guangdong and Macao.

Prof. Lam added that the regular opportunities to do voluntary services were only made possible thanks to the generosity and dedication to the community of his colleagues, who willingly contributed their leisure time for meaningful causes.  He was especially happy to see new faces among the volunteers this time and welcomed them on the journey to spread love in the community.  He urged his staff to hold on to a “people-oriented” mindset and serve the people and the community in their respective roles and situations.
